Hay Creek (red wing, mn)  (United States)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Hi Folks. Hay Creek restoration plans are coming together nicely so
here's the full schedule. On August 16th and 17th the Twin Cities Chapter of
Trout Unlimited in conjunction with the Hiawatha TU Chapter, Trout
Unlimited Driftless Area Restoration Effort (TU DARE) and the
Minnesota DNR, invite you to a two day "hands-on" in-stream habitat workshop.
Trout anglers, stream enthusiasts, conservationists and fans of clean
watersheds will have an opportunity to install - LUNKERS, Sky-hooks, vortex
weirs, and other habitat improvements on Hay Creek.  All participants will
receive a free stream restoration manual (with trout and nongame
habitat designs) and a CD video developed from past projects on Trout Run.
This will be an opportunity for you to watch or participate as habitat is
installed to improve the Hay Creek watershed.
The work continues August 23rd and 24th with more raking, spreading
seed,  hay and straw, and other finishing work. Meeting spot for all workdays
is Dressens at 8:15 am. Come for as many days as you can, all help is
welcome on any or all days! The landowner has granted those who wish to stay
overnight permission to camp for free at the site on Saturdays.
Volunteers can be as involved as they like in different activities and of course
can leave as schedules dictate.
So there are actually 4 workdays, the 16th and 17th include some
educational opportunities and the 23rd and 24th are to continue the
work as we finish the job! Let us know at what days
you can make it so we can ensure we have enough food and beverages! And as
always, visit the carpool forum at www.twincitiestu.org to save on
money and reduce our carbon footprint!

thanks!

So how did it go? I was curious to hear, but forgot to ask.
