BWCA flyfishing
 (United States)

I will be leading a group of scouts on a 5 day trek in a couple weeks. I plan on bringing my 4 piece 9wt. with me. I know it is a little heavy, but my other pack rod is a 4 wt.  I have tied up some clousers, gurglers, seaducers, and string leaches. What else do I need to bring with me? How about leaders, anything special? We will be putting in at Fall Lake and heading back to Moose Lake. The route has not been nailed down yet. Are all lakes pretty much the same as far as fishing quality there? Is there one a little more better than another?  Thanks for any advice you can give me.

I'd probably throw in some dahlbergs and some poppers for good measure.  I would definetly bring some wire leader, unless you know the area your fishing will be holding mainly smallies or largemouth.  I would suck to lose some flies on some little hammer handle pike, unless you plan on bringing dozens of each fly   Otherwise the flies you listed sounds reasonable to me.

I'm not too familiar with the lakes or route your trip will be on, so can't help you there.  I know someonelse on this board know more then I do and chime in.

Otherwise good luck and tight lines!

Oh welcome to the boards!

I would recommend a stop at Indiana Lake. Crystal clear lake which has some big small mouth (biggest 22"), big large mouth (biggest 23") and a few huge northerns (20 + pounds).

Also, Back Bay of Baswood Lake has some excellent blue gill and crappie fishing. Wind Lake has some nice northern fishing.
