Hello everyone, i was looking for some tips on how to go about fishing white water state park because next week is my fathers birthday and id like to take him to some place he hasnt fished. Now first i should tell you im generally a bait fisherman, Now please please!, put your rocks down until im finished
in all seriousness i am trying to learn fly fishing but as many of you know when starting out its quite frustrating, so i wont be fishing white water state park but id like to make it as succesful as possible for my father. So i have been hearing that alot of the good fishing at White water isnt even in the park, and i have read some of the old threads on this site (By the way i love the site) and it sounds like the good fishing areas are to the south of the park, is that right? Im looking at this All Season Map here www.dnr.state.mn.us/state_parks/whitewater/maps.html and trying to see where every one is talking about. Also im trying to figure out where the DNR drops all there stock because i assume that place will be pretty fished out. I know my father would like somewhere more private so he doesnt feel rushed or anything. So any advice on where to start and where to avoid would be of great help. Also id like to get him a gift of some new flies, and i looked at his tackle box quick and i can see some foam hoppers and spiders, some beetles, some mayflies, and alot of others i cant identify. But what would be some good ones that would work down there? Some names and colors would be helpful so i know what to tell the guy at the fishing store? thanks everyone!
