Iowa trout fishing 2008  (United States)

It was a cold and chilly day, but well worth it. Started out on Waterloo creek, no luck, the wind killed everything. This stream is completely out in the open. Great for casting room.

I went to North Bear Creek and dodged most of the wind. I landed 2 rainbows and 3 browns. I lost alot more fish than I landed. Size ranged from 4 to 12 inches long. Overall a good day though. A great way to get through Nov. and Dec. Here's some pics.

Re: Iowa trout fishing 2008  (United States)

On the Iowa DNR website there are maps of all the streams including roads and such. Also I use a Delormes Iowa map book and a book called, Iowa Trout Streams by Jean Hughes. It is all you really need and it is well worth the money. It covers trout fishing in Iowa with maps, gear(all flyfishing), the 4 seasons, patterns, etc.

I would start with Iowa DNR site.  Look on Amazon or online for Iowa flyfishing shops for the book. The book is very detailed and a cool addition to any fly fishing library.
