Fished sunday the 20th from about 2 pm to sundown on my favorite spring creek in the Lanesboro area.  Just a touch of color in the water is a good omen for this creek.  When the water is super clear the fish get spooky.  Ran into another pair of fly fishermen, and they gave me a good 100 feet, and I tried not to put down the fish too badly upstream of them.  Got a hatch of large 8-10 mayflies of an unknown type.  Marking resembled Callebaetis, but I'm a bit stumped by this big sucker.  Also had a 14-16 brown mayfly, and a 12 Baetis.  Heck of a hatch going on, but very few fish rising.  They were in holding lies I guess because I didn't see many.  Finally hit a hole were a 9 inch brownie was feeding off the surface, and got a really aggressive take on a #12 mayfly dry (My version of an adams) and I managed to land him.  Pretty slow from then on out with only a couple more takes and no more fish until I took a break and tracked back around.  Finally found a pool where I took four browns and a 10" brookie with a #14 hendrickson.  That was about the only lie that had any more than one or two rising fish.  All in all a good day.  It's great to fish in short sleeves again.
