Whitewater report
 (N/A)
My buddy and I fished Whitewater yesterday afternoon. We fished the park between the South Picnic area and the hwy 74 bridge. Fishing was slow for the first hour, with no visible hatches or rising trout. I thought I had the trout of a lifetime hit my caddis pupa, but it turned out to be a large sucker, fun to catch nonetheless. I caught fish on pheasant tails, caddis pupa, and emergers, and prince nymphs. 2 browns, and 13 rainbows, ranging from 8in-16in. The water was crystal clear, maybe too clear. I must have missed another 6 fish on soft strikes. I had about 6 hits on a caddis dry, but unfortunately never hooked up with one. This morning before heading home, we hit Trout Run Creek by the Round Red Barn in Troy, Mn. There was lots of trout, but no takers, not the best way to end a trip, but I'll take a day on the river with no fish, over almost anything. Has anyone had success on this river?

Re: Whitewater report

Trout Run has a gigantic natural reproducing brown trout populations, 4000-7000 trout per mile in some of the better reaches.  It's also heavily fished and the fish get wary fast (unless a hatch is on). I'd classify it as one of the top trout streams in southeast MN.
