South Fork Root river  (United States)

I just returned from fishing the south fork of the root river 6/10 thru 6/13. The fishing was very good. Whenever cloud cover would roll in the blue wing olives would start hatching and the fish would go crazy. I didn't have any BWO flys but it didn't seem to matter what i had tied on when the fish were rising. The fish were all browns from 10 to 14 inches very healthy and very strong fighters. When the hatch was on the water was boiling with rises. I used a hares ear nymph when the hatch was off with some success. Had a great time thanks Minnisota. I flew in from Washington state and it was well worth the trip.

Re: South Fork Root river  (United States)

BigM, glad to here you had some good fishing on the root. It's good to see that someone is using and posting on this site. I visit it frequently but lately there hasn't been many new postings. I use it to gain information on what's happening in the world of flyfishing in Minnesota. I know people don't like to share their hot spots and give away secrets but the purpose of sites like this is to share and maybe help a person out. I live in an area of the state that doesn't have much trout fishing so I need to travel to the Northshore or Southeast to fish and to have some insite as to where to fish is extremely helpful. So thank you to an out of state participant for sharing!
