Manitou River
 (N/A)
My wife and I are going to do some hike in camping at Crosby Manitou state park, and I was wondering if anyone has ever fished the stretch of the Manitou River that goes through the park.  Any better fishing around that area?

i have fished it, and was skunked. there were plenty of food sources( huge #'s of crawdads) bt i also have friends who have done well. depends on the time of year really. further ustream from the park is better.

Re: Manitou River

I backpacked in Crosby Manitou last summer. I didn't fish much, but did take a little time to scout the river . . . so, this isn't really based on experience as much as a good guess. I think your best bet is above the Cascade falls. You could day hike back there or, better yet, stay in campsite 1 or 2, which are close to the river and above the falls. I vaguely remember that one of the sites had better river access than the other, but I can't remember which and can't find my notes. Sorry I can't be more help! Let me know how the fishing is! By the way, I also saw plenty of crawdads up there.
