July 11th on the Root River outside of Peterson MN there was some kind of mayfly hatch coming off at around 8:oo pm. Something white or with a yellowish tint to them. I put on a caddis and tried to figure out what species of fish was going crazy on these. All I could see was silver!!! I ended up hooking over 2 dozen and landing about half of them. They all were mooneye and they were alot of fun!!!! Also caught 2 smallies previous to the hatch.
To top it off previous to the Root, I was fishing Pine creek and caught over a dozen brownies. What a great day!!!! |
