Newbie Question - Fishing this weekend
 (United States)

Hi, I'm new to fly fishing, just started last year, and only got a few times( as well as fishing in general). I've never been out in the winter time, as was wondering what peoples thoughts are about fishing this weekend, maybe South East (MN)or Western Wisconsin. Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts about if it would be a bad idea with all of the snow we just recieved, and the fact that there talking more tomorrow?

I'm really looking forward to catching my first trout!

Any insight would be greatly appreaciated.

Jerame did you ever get a change to get out and try some winter trout fishing?

I would have responded to your post, but I'm not the one to answer questions about winter trout fishing.  I've only done it once and that was only for a few hours.  Just wondering how you did if you got out.

Hi Tight Liness,

No I didn't, unfortunatley. something else came up that weekend.   Also, unfortunatley, I've been so busy, I won't have a chance to get out until about mid-April.

I did get signed up to do a fly fishing class at one of the local flyshops, so I should be on the stream no later than the 29th (hopefully sooner!). I've been reading a lot of books, and I really excited to learn to fly fish!

Thats cool your taking the time to learn about what fly fishing is all about and you sound like your hooked.  Books and videos are good 4 learning about fly fishing.  If you can find someone that will take you out as well is always a plus.

Don't forget to share your fly fishing experiences on the forums.

I'll be getting out in northern WI next week 4 my first line wetting :).

Tight lines.
