That sounds great! How far in there do you usually get by canoe?
You don't need to paddle that far in to have a great trip. I recommend getting away from any motor boat zones. In most cases a portage will take care of that. You can research the lakes for species, depth, and other info on MNDNR lakefinder website. There are alot of other websites that rate the portages, scenery, and the fishing in the BWCAW.
The fishing is excellent! I don't go all over the country or the world, but the numbers and the size are strong indicators in any situation. Also the scenery is awesome!!!
I take the north shore up (61) to 1 and cut across to Ely or stay on 61 to Grand Marias. In any case a great drive up!!!
Take lots of pictures of everything!!! It's a great experience, I would do it alot more if I could.
