purchased new rod

Picked up a new backup rod and reel today from cabelas.  A 8'6" 4wt trad. with a #1 drake fly reel.  Cabelas has them outfits on sale for $100.  not a bad price, looks to be good quality, however made over seas.  But for a backup...who cares.  Probably be down south with it for opener in a few days.  beaver possibly, anyone else going out?

Me and a buddy will be heading down near Beaver on Saturday night to fish on Sunday and Monday. We will probably hit Whitewater and a few other spots and skip the spooky fish of the Beaver. We will be in a Black Dodge pickup or a little red fish mobile, stop and say hi. Sounds like above normal temps which should make for some fine fishing. I have been telling everyone I know that the ice fishing has been incredible lately! SUCKERS!

Yeah, thats the thing about fly fishing, you can never have enough rods

Looks like a you got a good deal on the fly rod reel combo.  I was actually looking for a rod like that for some small stream fishing. Normally I would just my 5wt 9 footer, but something a little smaller would work good for some of the small northshore streams with lots of cover.

Please report your fishing report on the fishing reports page if you get out after opener.  I'm trying to line up a trip down there (never have done the winter opener yet)   But I have a daughter on the way in Feb so don't know if I can pull that off.

Well tight lines and be safe out there.
