April Fly Selections?
 (United States)
I'm leaving to go fishing SE Minnesota the first week in April.  Any idea on what might be some good dry flies and nymphs to bring?

Your standard nymph patterns like hares ear nymphs, pheasant tails will work.  I would have some scuds and some caddis larvae imitations as well.  On top I would definetly bring some Elk Hair Caddis and some midge patterns.  Wooly buggers are a good bet if you want to throw some bigger flies.  Me and a buddy usually head down in the 3rd or 4th week of April and have done well with the above.  My one advice is to get those nymphs down fast and deep, which usually means making use of splitshot or weighted flies.  Good luck.

The next time I go down I'm going to try throwing crawfish imitations, like the ones I use for bass.  There have been several trout that we haved cleaned for dinner and have add crawfish in there stomachs.

Tight lines and let us know how the action is.
