So what's your experience with the MN DNR?
(United States) Modified By namekagon on 3/14/2007 11:41:46 AM)

About  3 wks ago I sent a very polite Email asking them if they had info or if they would direct me to someone who had info on the many small brook trout streams available in the Park Rapids/Bemidji/Walker enigma.

Ziltch response...not the type of treatment, should I say arrogance, I'm used to, since ND Game & Fish and the Wisconsin DNR have always been so helpful..

Wow, 3 weeks is a long time.  I would say a week at the most, but come on 3 weeks.  Your email was lost because they had to fire that person checking email inquires because someone higher up the food chain needed another raise.

I had some similiar experiences with the MN DNR in the past.  Now when I need to get some answers, I always call and get some one on the phone who has some answers.  I think it just comes down to staff.  They'll probably get to your email, but if it's not in a timely manner, it's not very helpful.

You ever fish the Straight River up by Park Rapids?

Hi FM...a while no see.

In retrospect my indignation over one unanswered e-mail was a slight overreaction . You're probably right, calling would be a better way to go.

I haven't fished the Straight even though, at about 125 miles, it's the closest trout river to me that I know about. Wonder if the DNR's heard of it? In the past, I've always looked toward western ND for trout or northwestern WI...doesn't make much sense with the Straight so close.
