Easement on MB White Water
 (United States)
In my fruitless attempts at fishing the middle branch of the Whitewater on monday I came across something somewhat confusing.  I was fishing upstream of the park,  Around where CR 152 and CR107   meet (link to google maps).   On the map provided by the DNR it indicates this land is public Easement, but upon arriving the land was fenced off with barbed wire,  upstream and downstream from the CR 152 Bridge, even across the streambed (isn't that illegal?)   I remember in the past that land being accessable, but haven't fished the strech in a year or two.  Anyone have any idea what gives here.

I know exactly where your talking about Tacklebill.  I wouldn't think it's illegal, it's there to keep the guys cows from escaping.    I even have some video of the area in my home video I made and put on mnflyfishing.com.  We all should respect easements to all our trout streams.  The land owners are allowing us to cross their fences and fish from their land.

I think there is an easement on the north side of the road and on the east side of the bridge.  I've never really ventured down river from the bridge.  I usually go up river.  I know there is an easement on the south side of the road if your traveling east to west on the bridge and it's on the west side of the bridge.    I've seen others fishing downriver, even just this past Jan when I was down there.  Access over the fences are the small wooden ladder type ones, not the bigger a-frame ones.  I wouldn't wade near the bridge area, I'd be afraid of popping a hole in waders, but I have seen other anglers catch trout under the bridge.

This area has a few good holes and there have been some lunker structures installed upstream from the bridge.  But with such easy access it gets fished pretty hard from bait fisherman, spinning and fly fisherman.  It's one of the spots when you don't feel like hiking, short on time or just want to get one last cast in before the sun settles.

It can't be all bad, because I've caught my biggest MN trout out of that section.
