New fly shop in Duluth, MN!
(United States) Modified By admin on 7/17/2006 1:07:52 PM)

Got some great new for the Duluth - Superior area.  There will be another fly shop opening up in Duluth.  The owners do have some connections to the previous Lester River Fly Shop.  This store is going to be much much bigger then their previous store with many new brands and the same brands as before and the same local expertise for fly fishing northern Minnesota.

Who knows maybe I'll be putting a few hours down there working behind the counter.  If I'm working, I'm not spending money   Their opening date is July 1st, 2006.

Great Lakes Fly Company
313 West Superior Street
Duluth, MN

The store number is  218-740-3040

Well looks like the July 1 deadline didn't come true.  I talked to him yesterday for a bit and to check out the store, he's tyring to get it open by the middle of July, sometime around when Downtown Duluth has their side walk sales.

His store is coming around nicely.

I checked out the shop recently because it's only like a 2 blocks from where I work, lucky for me.  Now I know where I'll be spending my lunch breaks at

The shop looks great and with some really good products.  The shop is carrying Temple Fork, Scott and Winston rods, which are all excellent rods.  They are also carrying Cloud Veils new line of fly fishing gear, including their 8x waders, those are some sweet waders with a life time guarentee.  I'll probably be getting one of those as soon as safe up some cash.  They also have fish pond products as well.

Swing on by the shop and let them know you heard about them thru www.mnflyfishing.com and spend some money on a local store.

It may sound like I work for the shop, but I don't.  I just know John really well and want to see a local Duluth, MN fly shop sticking around for years to come.  He's a great guy with lots of fly fishing knowledge.

Later and good luck out there.

Sweet!  I can't wait to stop in.  Did you say they have breathable waders with a lifetime guarentee?

Cloudveil's warranty

We build Cloudveil clothing to last. All Cloudveil products are fully warranted to the original owner against manufacturers’ defects in materials and workmanship. If a product ever fails due to a manufacturing defect, we will repair it without charge, or replace it, at our option. Repairs due to accident, improper care, or negligence, where we are not at fault, will be performed at a reasonable charge. Cloudveil wants you to be completely satisfied with your apparel purchase.

So basically it's warrantied on normal use.  Now "normal" can be a wide range of situations.  But if someone is crawling on their knees on rocks all day long, thats probably not normal and don't know if Cloud Veil would honor that.  I know I would not.  But if you have been using it for 3 years and they develop a leak on the boot area, then it sounds like they will replace or repair for free.

I have had some Guide Series waders for under $100 buck that lasted me three years, then started a small leak.  But I don't think Gander Mountain will be giving me a new one or fixing my old pair, but Cloud Veil will.  Go down to the shop and ask John about the details, he could answer more.

The 8x waders are up there in price as the Simms, Patagonia and all those brands way up on the scale.  Cloudveil also has a cheaper version of their 8x wader.

What a great shop.  I have been there once a week since they opened and love it.  Purchased a pair of Clouveil 8X waders today, can't wait to try them out tomorrow!

They have a great selection of all things fly related.  (lots of tying materials)

Well worth stopping in.

Cool deal.  Let us know how those waders work out for ya.  I'm saving up right now since the wife has me on a tight leash from getting my new Scott rod this year , thanks honey.

Yeah, everytime I stop by the shop it looks different then the last time I went in there.  Everytime I go in the store, I always find something he can add to the shelves .

Take lines everyone and watch the heat out there, it's been a hot bugger this year.
