New SAGE Bluegill Rod  (United States)
Modified By JeffreyP on 1/20/2009 11:14:47 PM)
Does anyone have any experience with the new Sage Bluegill Rod? It is under 8' for competitions and comes with "special" line. Apparently, you can big poppers in windy conditions with it. I seen another post about the BASS rod, so maybe something similar.

Re: New SAGE Bluegill Rod  (United States)

I know this is an post, but on a similiar topic.

I haven't tried the sage bluegill, but have read some decent reviews on it.  I just picked up the Redington Predator 7'11'" 8wt.  Definately a short game rod for bigger fresh and saltwater fish.  It reminds me of close quarter fighting.  Mainly designed for quick, short accurate cast with few false cast.

Sage says it's designed for the smaller bass and probably would work good for large trout fishing as well.  Sage says it's equivelant to a 6-7 rod.   There is a lot of things that can be done with a 9 footer though, it just comes down to technique.  I think these 'short' rods will fill a niche for sure.  Just think about the kind of fishing you do.  If you pound shorelines throwing to structure, these rods will work perfect for you.
