the Kinnie
 (United States)
fished parts of the upper and lower today, with more netted on the lower, very feisty, but small, browns. absafreakinloutley beautiful day! this is why we fish. met an old timer near the fallen willow  downstream from glen park. he showed me his pattern, picked one for me, and we both hammered the rest of the day. i didn't get his name though, my gratitude goes out to him though. it's funny in my few years doing this i have yet to meet that : crusty old guy". almost everyone is pleasant and amiable. now i suppose there aren'r really rattlers in south east either!

Re: the Kinnie

I remember meeting a few people like that years  past.  You know, the kind person who is willing to share some secrets and help another fly fisher while out on the water.  These lessons should be learned by everyone who fly fishers and fishes in general.  It just shows some respect and most of all some good old kindliness.

And good job on the Kinny jasksdada!  That is a nice river to fish and execellent for wading.  I've only fished it a few times as I was passing thru and wish I had a chance to fish it real good.

Re: the Kinnie

can be, but I usually walk downstream a good 30 minutes ors so and then fish my way back up. farther down ya get the better it gets. if ya google the kinickincinick land trust, their website has a great map of all the public access on the upper and lower kinni. the upper has more fish, albeit smaller. and much less of a canoe hatch, although it is getting to be more of an issue.

Re: the Kinnie

Today My Brother in law and I head over to the Kinnie for the first time. We fished the lower section from about 1:30 to 6:00 and managed 3 browns. It seemed after 20 minutes of fishing canoes and kayaks starting coming out of no where and the fishing turned off instantly. though the canoes and kayaks kept coming, for some reason our dumbasses kept walking and fishing. 4 hours later we finally realized that the fish had turned in for the day. i guess for some reason we had it in our head that the fish we probably use to the traffic and probably werent bothered by it, god were we wrong!

After leaving the lower kinnie my brother in law wanted to stop by the upper kinnie to see what it looked like. we stopped by every access from the northside of River Falls all the way to C.R. "J" and never fished  till the last stop on "J". To say the least im not a fan of tight technical casting and tons of trees. The section we fished had no surface activity and even our best cast couldnt appetize a fish out of hiding.

Re: the Kinnie

That sucks Daniel.  Been there and done that on the Brule River.  Not anymore.  I've canoed that river so many times, I've learned where most of the floaters will be at certain times of the day and on what sections.  The straglers are usually the fisherman and are very respectful of other fisherman which makes for a great day.

I bet you and your Bro are sick of hearing "Hows the fishing?",  "Catching anything?".  When I see other fisherman, especially waders, I always ask if it's ok to pass and just say hi...been there done that :)

I thought the Aluminum hatch was all over by now :)

Good luck on the next adventure!

Re: the Kinnie

haha, you are so right on the "how's the fishing?", "Catching anything?"!!! Every person must have asked. We probably saw 25-35 floaters. Its not so bad though, we all got to share the resources when your that close to the metro. What sucks is when you get the ones that dont know to paddle and they damn near take you out. It was still a beautiful day to be out! Ill be back but ill make sure the weather will be cold enough to keep them away.

thanks and good luck to you.
