Good to hear you had some success Upstream.
I was on the Rush yesterday and had some good fishing.
Started around 9am and ended at 4:30pm.
They were feeding sub-surface all morning in slower water. I had
little success presenting the right fly, or look until I started
working the faster runs and shoots. I switched to some midge and
bluewing olive parachute patterns, letting them swing through stronger
current....fish would strike near or at the end of the swing. I
also had may strikes while slowly stripping line.
I too saw them sipping at the surface later in the day, I think they
were picking at dislodged stonefly larva and various emergers. I
never saw a hatch of signifigance..a few larger caddis, some bluewings,
and assorted midges.
Good day fishing, and I can;t wait to get back.
