A buddy and I got a chance to fish the Namekagon River in northern Wisconsin. The water level looked normal. Water temp was 50 in the morning and by the afternoon it was 53. On and off clouds and air temps got around 65. Nice day to get out and wet a line. We did see some good hatches of caddis for this river, but not alot of visible rising fish. We put in a few access points above Hayward.
That was one of my most enjoyable fights with a fish. The fish did not want to move out of the current and wanted to sink back into some thick cover. It got me into some thick stuff a few times and I thought I was going to lose it, but finally managed to land it. All in all a good time on the river.
The upper Brule opens up this weekend, anyone else going to be heading to the Brule River?
Tight Lines.
