The Brule River always "grabs" people, no matter if you fish it or not, there is definately something special about the Brule.
The Kinni is an excellent stream and the DNR and other conservation groups know it as well. Lots of works has been done to the stream, but it gets a lot of pressure from both WI anglers and MN anglers, being so close to the Twin Cities. I don't fish it as often as I should because it's not in my driving range for a days fishing trip. I usually fish it on my way to SE Minnesota in the spring, usually sometime in April. I've always had a very fun time fishing the Kinni. Me in living in Duluth, its a no brainer to buy a WI license. If it wasn't for the Brule, I wouldn't buy one. I lived fairly close to the Kinni, I would definately buy a WI license, but I would also make drives to the SW WI area streams as well, and definately towards rivers like the Plover.
My Winston BIIx 8' 6" 4wt made it to my door yesterday. I was giggling like a little child opening the rod tube. Opening the cloth bag was almost like being in the delivery room of my first child, ok not close, but you get the picture. This is my first Winston and all I got to say is Wow! Winston is just one of those rods that you want to go fishing because you want to cast, not necessarily to catch fish. I'm very impressed with Winston. My 8wt BIImx is on it's way for this season as well. It's going to be a great year, I can already tell.
Good luck out there everyone!
