Beaver Creek Valley State Park
 (United States)
I've got a family camping vacation this weekend at Beaver Creek Valley State Park and plan on sneaking out in the mornings to try for some trout.  I am a very inexperienced trout fisherman an have only fished them with small spinners.  Any tips on this particular stretch of Beaver Creek?  Honey holes?  Patterns and baits?  Good local tackle shop?  Etc?  I appreciate any information you could provide.  Thanks,

this being a fly fishing site, can't really help ya with the spinning gear. but the fishing in the park is good. if ya want to take the family go over to schechs mill, you'll find it on the maps down there. and if i'm not mistaken, there are a few streams down there that are artificials only. and ain't anyone in their right mind gonna give out honey holes. not a question you really should be asking on a public forum.

Thanks jacksdada, I'll check out the mill...or maybe just send the family over there.

I didn't really expect GPS coordinates to a secret spot just fishing for general info.  My secret spot is tributary to the Mississippi river and there are lots of trees and rocks nearby.

just to be clear, schechs mill is a spot that has some family friendly fishing, wide open, not a lotta trees.

Beaver Creek Valley State Park is a beautiful park and you are sure to have a great time. The stream is long and beautiful and if you dont catch anything you will still have a great time. Be prepared for trees but dont sweat it. Just relax and take lots of pictures.

I agree that Schech Mill might be the place to go. If you look on Google Earth or Google Maps you can see its a nice wide stream there.

Have fun and let us know how you do!
