South Fork White Water
 (N/A)
I spent two beautiful days on the South Fork of the Whitewater this past weekend.  I was upstream of the bridge at CR112.  Fishing was steady, but by no means fast.  I was finding most fish in the faster broken sections, riffles and especially  around any exposed bedrock.  There wasn't much in the way of insect activity; a few odd caddis and a Hendrickson hatch on Sunday morning that was over before it started really.  Fish weren't selective and seemingly taking most any well presented pattern.  I caught fish on Prince, Hare's Ear, Copper John, Midge nymphs, green soft hackles, and elk hair caddis.  Not sure what Sunday afternoon's rain did to the stream as I got off the water just as the showers started.  The area seemed to be pretty worked over by bait and gear fisherman, and fishing improved noticably the farther I got from them.  I ended the weekend with a beauty.  17+" Brown.  My biggest fish to date on SE MN streams!  Unfortunately, in the rush to release the fish, I didn't save the picture properly and it is lost forever.   But I'll take a beautiful fish alive to a dead one in a picutre any day of the week.
