First Time's Flyfishing
 (United States)

I went out for the first time this week on Wed. and also today.  It was my first time's flyfishing,  I had a blast both day's despite some clown who tried to ruin my party.  Here is a synopsis of the first day out.

I got too Hay Creek in SE MN, at around 10am and got busy.  It had a nice spot too park by a bridge under which the creek was shining in the winter sun's gleam.  I seen a classic riffle from where I made my way in.  I took a minute too soak it all up then I casted..........or tied too 8^(.  The first day was a collection of snag's, and bad cast's.  No description needed.  I spent 4 to 5 hour's learning how my rod work's and feel's in live action.

Then today I went back.  I got there at 930am I hate living far from SE MN!!  I seemed to be on a roll at first, making nice cast's seeing movement's.  Then a red truck pulled up by where I was parked.  Someone got out went by the bridge where I came into the creek (I was 20-30 yards upstream of it), I thought he was fishing I thought wow kinda close, but thought maybe he'll walk up and i can learn from him.  Well after 10 min's during which I thought I heard him fishing, I got a snag.  I went over too it as quietly as I could, very quietly I thought and I bowhunt so I am afraid of noises lol.  I got my snag off and moved back too my spot, this all took 5 or more mins as I was moving slow and not trying to make noise.  Well I hear his truck door shut a few mins later and he pulls it up the street and get's out going upstream 20-25 yards ahead of me around a bend.  He seem's too be very noisy at this point, and here he come's (he looked like a he haden't shaved or cleaned in months) around the bend in all orange no flyrod or pole he was literally jogging in the middle of the creek at me.  I stand there mout open he stop's 5-10 ft from me say's "Catch any fish?" in a I dont want you here leave now type of tone almost threatening.  I say no I just got here, and before I could say anything he turned around, and jogged through the middle of the creek water again back that way.

I got out of the water and then thought "He ain't gonna win", so I got the high ground above him, ran past him, as he was trudging as loud as he could through the water, and Sopped by the creek 15 yards ahead of him as he cam around a bend.  He stopped looked at me for a moment  Then turned around and trudged back the other way too his truck and left.  i thought great indroduction to flyfishing, but being an outdoorsmen for year's I have had this stuff happen and laughed it off.  I fished that spot for a few hour's, then headed farther down the road to the next access point on the creek.

It was there on a small BH Nympth I caught a 6 in Brown trout, finally.  Only one of the day but it was worth it, I let him go and he was willy I think he hit my line 2 or 3 time's before I got him.  As I was driving home I thought "This is something I am going to be doing alot more of."
