Where to go?
 (United States)
Hey i'm Ted, new to the forum, and new to flyfishing.  I have baitfished for years with modern rod and reel.  Now I am looking for a new realm of fishing.  What is some good spot's in SE/SW MN to fish early to mid season?  I have a 8' St.Croix med-act. 5wt.  Also what are some good flies for this region, and cast patterns?  Any help would be very much appreciated.  Thank you.

Hi Flyguy83.  I responded to your post in the General section.

A buddy and I head down to SE MN during the early regular season.  We use the usuals like pink scuds, Pheasant tails, and caddis larvae imitations drifted deep in runs and pockets and we do pretty good.  Otherwise I like to use small midges and Elk Hair Caddis's, pretty standard stuff, but it works.  Once in a while I like to break out the crawfish imitations I use for smallmouth and have hooked into some big browns.  We usually base out of the Whitewater area and move around from there.

Good luck and tight lines.
