Yes, give the guy some real advice. We're trying to get people into fly-fishing, not scare them off. I say fish the Root, Trout Run Creek, and the Whitewater. Try some dark hendricksons/all-purpose nymphs and dark hendrickson dries on the Root and Trout Run this time of year, but it has been warm, so that early hatch may have faded. Also, caddis larvae nymphs on all three, small caddis dries, and always be ready with some blue-wing olives. Always have some hare's ears, pheasant tails, and scud nymphs. The hare's ear and pheasant tails imitate lots of things, there are tons of scuds (freshwater shrimp) in there. I am wondering how far ahead the hatches are, my wife and kids are going to the whitewater tomorrow to fish in the park tomorrow. I have heard the Dark Hendricksons are less prevalent than they used to be, and if so, that's a bummer. My wife and I love that hatch, the fish get so aggressive.
